Some friends and I headed out today on an amazing hike in Mt. Baker National Forest. We enjoyed an at times snow filled excursion on the Damfino Lakes to Excelsior Ridge Trail.
I did this same hike one year ago to the day and there was no snow as you can see below. I don’t know if that means we are in for more snow this year or if it was just My. Baker National Forest throwing us a curve ball.
Either way we were up for the challenge. The sun was warm and the fresh mountain air felt great.
Snow always has a way of slowing the hike down, but I like to think that it gives us more time to enjoy the view.
And what a view, am I right?
That’s not to say we didn’t feel the burn in our legs on the way up!
My faithful companion sure had fun on this hike.
Along the way we ran across a mountain lion’s paw print. Now that is a big kitty!
While I didn’t have an exact GPS of the course we took this is a rough estimate of the 6.4 mile loop we did.
You can read more about it here. This really was a great hike, I would highly recommend it to anyone that finds themselves in the Mt. Baker National Forest.
